Are you a protestant or a Catholic? Fundamentalist, evangelical, moderate or liberal?
I don't recommend reading the Bible first. It's just too hard to understand.
Try these:
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis (really great book)
Christianity for Dummies by Richard Wagner (not a great book, but has lots of basic info)
The Bible for Dummies by Jeffrey C. Geoghegan and Michael M. Homan (again, solid basic info)
Prayer: Finding the Heart's True Home by Richard Foster (this is essential; Christianity without prayer is empty)
What Jesus Meant by Garry Wills (Jesus is the heart of Christianity; this book is a bit controversial but worth exploring)

Well through the books andthe net... Be lucky, for yours It's the most popular and common religion. I'm Wiccan so I tend to get a lot of insults and unacceptance in mine and not just by parents that's because people don't understand it and people fear what they don't understand. Now the bect thing to do is search the net, ask questions, read the bible but I'd try to get an older copy even look into the roots of Judaism because that's wheremost of the christian roots spring from, and you can study it at home but hide your things where your parents won't see them. I'm accepting of every religion I believe they're all different paths towards the same goal or "The Lord and Lady." (as I call "God")

If you have a Bible, start reading the book of John. When I first got saved and wanted to find out more about God my grand mother had me read the book of John. It was amazing reading about Jesus and how much love He has for the world. I couldn't put the Bible down, I read into the early hours of the morning and still did not want to stop reading. I hope you can find a good Church, fellowship helps you grow along with pray and bible study. Love, be bless.

Christianity may not be the only answer. I agree with what many others have said here, but perhaps you should not limit yourself to particular religion. There are many choices out there. If Christianity is for you, then an on-line chat group would be good or perhaps some christian friends in your area. All else fails, read the bible. It is all in there, I am told =)
Good luck!

I think the main thing is to do just that
I studied an old book from 1993 Christianity in Crisis and it showed me some of them were overt con artists
later I realized I was like many christians and only knew what others told me
the result from my studies broadened my view of spirituality and god, religions and helped me love others without looking through dogma and doctrines first
enjoy the journey! (I'm still doing it, and enjoying it immensely)

if you cant find a decent church go to a used book store and spend a few dollars on christian book or study aids, and a bible, using them as a building block read each one looking up all the scriptures listed, and make notes for yourself. keep your mind and heart open, and learn all you can. if they talk about specific historical events read up what you can find out about that time period. and use that to further your understanding. believe nothing until you can prove it to yourself first. and if you have any questions you can email me under this name at my yahoo email

Since there are so many different Christian denominations, which all have their own interpretations of what "true" Christianity is, I would suggest starting with a non-biased source, so you can explore Christianity from a neutral standpoint, and build your resources from there based on what personally sounds more accurate to you.
This is the menu on Christianity from my favorite online non-biased religious website:

The main thing it's based on is a book...all the other stuff--jewelery, buildings, people to preach it to you--is just filler. So read the book, I'm not sure what else there could be. If need be, find a study buddy or mentor who 'understands' the wording well...

history of religion opened my eyes to the corruptibleness of tradition and how much people have perveted things throughout all history. im surprised that bad church existed at all.
but history and all its 5 million ancient manuscripts will show false religion exists more than truth. but it will also prove what truth can be established.
but not everything that is written is true. The truth is out the but so are the lies.
a popular historian can be found at KimballcollegeDOTcom
but of course he will also send you to the library of congress, you can start there.
