will, lime wire is just another sharing software. when it gets to sharing software i would not recommend lime wire, the company is trying the best to remove and stop files from bieng downloaded if they have a virus, possibiliteis that a virus might enter your pc with a file you download from limewire is just as much as the possibilitys with other sharing sofwares as bearshare kazza etc...
but any way i recomend bear share because nowadays when you serch for a song and you find a matching title it turns out to be a diffrent song than the one you are expecting, any way if you are downloding any sharing program, i HIGHLY recommend that you read the license agreement.
anyway the files that you download from lime wire come from other websites and are free, if u know the names of the websites that lime wire uses you can download them yourself, but lime wire makes it a lot easier.
anyway the big problem is that the files you may download may be illegal you might want to contact your internet service provider and look over the licsence agrrements of you internet service provider for avoiding dissapointment over illegal items. there are lots of other things that your service provider might ban you or
disconnect your internet for using sharing software.

Limewire is a shareware program (everyone shares what they already have like music, programs, pictures, stuff like that with other people) so yes there is a possibility of viruses and such. If you have anti virus software it should catch it. The music is mostly safe, it is the programs you need to be careful of downloading and using. Limewire does work with itunes as well. That is how I get the music for my iPod.

I do not recommend using Limewire. When you use the free version it installs adware on your computer that will slow your computer and send you pop-up ads (though they will probably be blocked by your browser, but it still slows down the computer). If you want a free peer to peer program you should use Ares or SoulSeek. Here are the links for their websites where you can download them for free.

http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net
http://www.slsknet.org

Neither of these programs will instal adware or spyware on your computer, and they have any file you could find on Limewire.

EDIT:
Limewire Pro costs you money, but otherwise it would be just as good as Ares or SoulSeek. Still, if you can get the same service as LW-Pro from Ares/SoulSeek, but free of charge - why on earth would you pay for LW-Pro?

Lime wire (free version) is not realiable. It breaks your computer most of the time. Get limewire pro. You will be set with that.
