Hello there, I have raised wild bobcats for quite some time. They like meat mostly, and contrary to popular belief they will not chase down a person (unless the bobcat has some kind of mental illness or injury and is starving to death) Bobcats mostly prey on rabbits, grouse, other birds and some have even been known to catch fish. We feed our bobcats raw chicken. They love it. If you have a pet bobcat, then just pick up a couple of whole chickens at the store and feed them to them (take the plastic and whatnot off first of course lol) Hope this helps.

I am curious about this too... I checked out research papers and basically they mainly eat small rodents and rabbits, (they would also eat cats, dogs if they are found in urban centers because the are 'generalist carnivores'). From what I understand though, what they eat is somewhat dependent on where they live... in both New England and Pennsylvania, they eat more White-tailed deer!!! (41% of the animals examined had white-tailed deer in their stomachs, and 22% had rabbit, 18% had deer mice).

Gender of the animal also explains what they eat - males will eat larger animals (porcupine, racoons) where as the females will eat more rabbits and mice.

Season also has an effect since some prey items will be hibernating during the winter (like chipmunks) - so they aren't found in their stomachs during the winter!

Wow, that was interesting! Good question!

Unlike some twits have said, bobcats don't attack and eat people, unless someone's stupid enough to try grabbing one that's trapped. What bobcats DO eat are any critters smaller than them that you'd find in a forested area. Squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, rats, fish, birds (including big ones like turkeys) and even small or sickly deer. They'll also eat carrion (animals that are already dead and laying around, aka roadkill).
