would it change your view on God?

I'm not saying it's possible, but IF credible scientists all agreed that the Earth was 6-10,000 years old....

It would be damn hard to overturn the insurmountable evidence pointing to an earth of about 4.5 billion years.

But for the sake of the question, it would probably make me a Christian.

This is a very difficult question for Jews and Christians, but Muslims don't consider this a problem at all. The Quran says nothing of the sort.

In fact, Islamic belief is that God sent more than 124,000 prophets to guide us humans. These prophets included Abraham, Noah, Moses, David, Jesus, etc. The last of these messengers was Muhammad who came about 600 years after Jesus.

If we consider that these 124,000 prophets lived at least a few decades each, and there was propbably a gap of a few years between them, then according to Islamic belief the human race has existed on earth for, perhaps, more than a million years.

We Muslims also believe that the Earth and most of its creatures were created by God much before he created us humans.

It would take more than that for the average person.

Don't forget that the bible tells how all the people at Mount Sinai heard G-d speak after the ten plagues and being saved at the "red" sea. Within 40 days they built a golden calf and called it their god.

So if that didn't change them then something like proving the Earth to be 6000 years old won't do.

Maybe these things need to learned at a more spiritual level and can't be shoved in peoples' faces today

Wow. Six thousand to ten thousand years old?

Scientists would NEVER say that about Earth. Earth is indeed at least ONE billion years old.

Dinosaurs existed millions of years ago. If it was true, where would the dinosaurs be? Would they have evolved so quickly, turning into fish and birds, water and land mammals and then primates and then humans in under 6,000 years? I find that hard to believe.

They would have a mountain of evidence to over come. And you would have to reset about every single branch of science to about 1800 because most of what they have done in life sciences, geology, astrophysics, and a few other disciplines is all built on the work that dates the Earth to 4.5 billion years give or take.

The odds of this happening are less than Jesus showing up at my door. So it really isn't worth the time to consider.

It would change my view of the age of the Earth. And it would change my view of the credibility of the unanimous opinion of scientists, which, by the way, say the Earth is MUCH MUCH older.

Too many things exist on the earth that have taken way more than 10,000 yrs to form, so your question is illogical. Science is the basis of what we know. Ignorance is the foundation of religion, it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world.

But there's evidence that Humans have existed for about 160000 years, so Humans can't be older than the Earth, can we? Anyway, the Earth is about 4.5 billion years old.
