Its the best time to take it, and if you have 2 servings a day the second best would be before you work out. If you have 3 servings a day, third best time would be at bed time or arguable half way though your day.

anything that leads to excess calories will make you fat. whey protein contains calories, so it has the potential to hurt you. but if you use it right (i.e., use it as a part of a clean diet), it won't.
