We will be getting an American Mastiff puppy in April/ May and we know we need to get the large breed dog food, but what brand is the best?

I found mastiffs do better on Nutro large breed puppy. It will help with his joints as he gets older. Good luck with the new puppy.

We have a Dogue de Bordeux (French Mastiff) that will be a year old next month. She was originally on Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed Puppy Lamb Meal & Rice, but stopped liking it and wouldn't eat. So we switched to the Nutro Max formula for large breed puppies. She really likes that one. I liked that it has a lot of nutrients like Glucosamine and chondroitin geared toward the issues large dogs have with their joints.

You don't want to give them a lot of food as puppies. If they grow to quickly they'll end up with hip dysplacia or other large breed problems. Basically you should get dog food for large breed puppies.

I do not know of a good dog food sold at a grocery store. Your best bet is a Pet store or a feed store. try www.wholedogjournal.com and see their recommended dog foods.
You can but real serious healthy food for just a little more than Wal-Mart junk.

i have a newfoundlander and i feed her Iams large breed and i give her 2 cups once a day (she isnt very active) and she only poops once a day so to me that is AWESOME.
