Our military will not put that many troops in a vulnerable situation so they all can be killed in a single encounter. Of course, that statement is qualified by assuming there are no WMD in Iraq. Or any brought into that hellish pile of dung.
And if that happened, pave that damn country.

It's not a question of vengeance or consciousness, it's a question of liberty and a call of duty. This war has had a nominal casuality/loss rate and if it should escialate then so will the number of resources allocated. Our only major issue in this war is politics (democrats). You can't want liberty and expect it to be at no cost. I think our generation hasn't experienced enough loss or adversity to understand what freedom actually cost. We are the spoiled offspring of the generations before us that were willing to do whatever was necessary to secure freedom and liberty. Every man and woman will one day die. Some of old age, some of illness and some fighting for what they believe in and what we all take forgranted. I say shut or put up. If it concerns you so much then join the fight because it will never be over until it is won. We still have troops in Beirut, Korean, Vietnam, etc... Open your eyes and say your prayers.

So, what you're saying is that if we were to lose 10,000 in an act of terrorism, we should not do anything about it?
I remember Beirut, Somalia, and Vietnam, and so does our enemies. Every time our government gets worried about its "legacy" and runs from battle, it tells our enemies that we don't have the will to sustain a prolonged war effort. Then, the U.S. in not only no longer a deterrent to invasions of our allies, but of our homeland.
We're just not that scary any more.

our troops aren't huddled up in one tent. They are spread out all over the place. One single act won't hurt our troops that much. Look at the news that only tells you about the attacks on Americans over there. They are lucky to get more than 5 at a time. 3000 American troops in the whole time to 34000 Iraqi's in 2006 alone.

Well, i will say this much. If something like that were to happen, even if 10,000 were in the same city, and i survived, i would, as you say, lose all consciousness and kill indiscriminately and as quickly as i could. I'm sorry, there are good iraqis, i have met them, but there are limits. We are being hamstrung by our government and the media. We could be far more effective in putting down insurgents if we were allowed to.

Every single American would vote for vengeance. Really there is no difference between American thinking and Muslim Terrorist thinking. That is why we are descending into a cycle of eye for an eye for an eye for an eye
