I also have problems copying discs on my computer, disc with pictures i.e. any help is better than no help, thank you if you can help me resolve this situation.

I don't know what do you mean by "have problems coping discs on my computer". Normally you can copy files and past in on your computer, it seems that the CD that you used is scratched or something so you can't use it.
About the DVD I think you got a software CD with it with a program that allows you to burn DVDs. Simply, install the software >> run it >> follow the wizard

Surely your burner came with either a printed User's Guide or one on disk. Check it out. Instructions will be unique to the software powering your burner.
