Over protected children grow up afraid to take risks. Under protected children may take risks that could ruin their lives. It is neither good to be an over protective or an under protective parent.

Since your question requires seecting one of the two that is "better," I have to go with better to be underprotective. While the children of underprotective parents might make more mistakes, they'll hopefully learn from them (assuming they survive to adulthood) and will be able to function in the real world.

Children of overprotective parents will be at a great disadvantage when they enter the real world and find out that all is not milk and honey.

That's just my $.02, and I was raised by a mostly single mom, am the oldest of three, and was able to deal with the world because I knew what to expect when I got out there.

Good luck and peace be

See thats a hard one if a parent is underprotective the kids are aloud to do whatever they want whenever they want, getting them into alot of trouble. If the parents are overprotective the kids are going to be sneaky about what they are doing or where they are going, which in the end could get them into alot of trouble. If I had to pick one I guess it would be overprotective.

overprotective. My parents were always overprotective, of course my older sisters got away with stuff that I did and got in trouble for. I don't doubt my parents love me with all of their heart, but treat each kid like the other kid. Don't play favorites. The result with my older sisters getting away with everything because they never caused problems, I ended up stealing the car for a year and a half. Ended up dating a guy my parents didn't really like. Drank as a minor, all the time, got kicked out of college.

the over protective parents acctually disaplin their children when they do something wrong. and i like to see that sometimes. like ive seen some parents who didnt care that their kid got arrested and didnt even talk to them or disaplin them at all. i rather see a parent pissed off instead of not caring
