Beagles are one of the top shedding breeds. Brushing will help some. You also have to look at the type of food you are feeding him/her. If you are feeding food like Kibbles and Bits or Iams, those are lower grade foods which can cause more shedding. I recommend foods like Nutro or Natural Balance. Shedding is usually caused by lack of grooming or the dog's food. Try changing the food. If you do change food, mix the two foods half and half for about a week. If you don't the dog might have some indigestion or diarrhea. Good luck.

When i had talked to the vet about my dogs shedding he suggested LyTar shampoo and it would help with the shedding. Thats the only shampoo that we buy from now on because my dogs coat is soft and she has stopped shedding so much.

no, all you can do is consistant (possibly daily) grooming to help the matter. If you brush your beagle everyday, the amount of hair that is around the house will decrease.

I got a Zoom Groom (made by the Kong company) and both my dogs get a nice rubdown with that. They love it and I get to be happy that there's that much less hair in my apartment.
