My husband is almost a sheriff and we have never heard of volunteer Sheriff? What training are you given?

I would ask if it is possible to attend Church with your radio on...Then if there is a call you can respond, from church.

We have asked ourselves that, as my husband has been going through the motions of becoming a Sheriff, what we would do if he was scheduled during Church. Our Church offers a Wednesday night service too...Maybe your Church offers a service on another night that will fit your schedule better. Well Thanks for you service, and good luck!

Pray without ceasing. Keep God on the job with you. Try to attend services when you are not working. As soon as a replacement is found, unvolunteer your services unless God is using you to witness. Why do you work weekends or on the Sabbath if you don't get paid and don't need the money since it's volunteer. Definitely you should tell them to find a replacement for you soon. Meanwhile, do the best you can.

Many churches offer Wednesday night services. You can also tithe (if you do that) on your own time by working something out with the pastor. Also consider getting involved in a Bible study group that meets during the week so you can stay engaged with the church membership.

As Paul wrote to the Hebrew Christians, 'let us not forsake the gathering of ourselves together,' or 'assembling together.'--Hebrews 10:24, 25. Meeting with fellow believers serves a two-fold purpose: (1.) to be united in your study and understanding of scripture, and in worship of God; and (2.) to encourage one another. If there are other meetings that you can attend throughout the week, do so, because faith is like a pile of sand that needs constant attention in order to keep it from diminishing; so take advantage of the meetings you CAN get to. If there are no other meetings, well, you may have to consider starting a Bible-study group at your, or a friends', house--with the assistance and permission of your priest, pastor, minister, whatever.

At one point in time I to was a volunteer or as they call them in Arizona ( reserves ). I would always miss Sunday Morning Service and sometime Sunday nights . But I would always make it to the Mid-week service.
There were times I would show up in uniform on weekends but I would lock up my gun in the trunk of my car.
Actually being in the reserves help me in my youth ministry , it opened doors for me to speak to youth and being a authority figure it would make it easier to say break the ice.
The Lord is not going to srike you down for doing that on Sunday in fact while I was on duty there were times doors opened for me to minister to people.

Most churches offer Sunday night sermons and Wed night sermons. Go to one of those.

Or record Joel Osteen and watch it when you get home if you feel like you're really missing out.
