i guarantee this answer is right i know cause i used to have the same problem. it doesn't matter what kind of shampoo you use those or just gimmick. now listen carefully. the more you wash your hair the more oil it produces. so if you can try to not use shampoo for a week you can still wash it with water after a week wash it with shampoo then try doing it a week and 2 days then a week a 4 days then a week and 6 day it will take a while but trust me it took a while for your hair to get that way you can still use conditioner on the ends only!not the root try to keep soaps away from the root and just use water. your skin and hair will both improve by doing this. some people who put like braids and stuff in there hair do this all the time. my hair dresser is the one who told me and she only washes her hair every 3 months you will thank me

Two days is probably average. I shampoo my hair every day. If I don't, then it is not only oily, but tends to itch. Besides that, it just looks bad.
If you really wish to go longer between shampoos, then you might switch shampoos. Try Paul Mitchell, or Nexxus. Also, if you must condition, use a good conditioner that you don't have to apply every time you shampoo. Make sure when you do, that you do your best to keep it off of, and away from the scalp. This will also help with the oiliness.
Good luck to you.

After years of dealing with oily hair (it's really oily scalp which makes the hair oily) and trying many different shampoos, I've come to the conclusion that I simply have to wash my hair every day. I used to use shampoos for oily hair but then I thought, if I'm washing every day, I'm just drying my hair out with the shampoos that strip out the oil. I've since switched to a moisturizing shampoo every day, and my hair looks a lot healthier.

Well if that shampoo or conditioner makes your hair oily, stop using them. Also don't touch your hair with your hands, because the oil on your hands can make hair more oily if you touch your hair alot. this may sound very gross, but I use it and it works like magic for me. Take an egg and brake it and whip it really good. Then apply to your roots of your hair and leave it in for an hour and wear a shower cap. Wash your hair well and condition. The eggs add volume, moisture, shine and makes oily hair less oily. My neighbor told me that mayonaise works too. I hope works for you.

Try using a clarifying shampoo and conditioner. Also try not putting too much product into your hair. There are also hair powders that you can use that soak up the oils in your hair. They are good for days when you wake up late and don't want to wash your hair. A little bit of baby powder works too.

There are shampoos for oily hair. Also if you use products in your hair more than you wash your hair then that could cause oily hair. Also washing your hair at least every other day will reduce the oil majorly.

Firstly: most people do have to wash their hair every two days, just so you know...
Secondly: use a shampoo for oily hair, and use blotting tissue (eg the ones from Clean & Clear, I love those!) to pat away the excess oil if you don't have time to wash it.
Blotting tissue is for the face, I know. But a good one works on your hair too!

I recently had the same exact problem. (Except, mine was beginning to shine with oil sooner than yours.) The only thing that I found that worked was to use Aussie Cleanse & Mend Shampoo (it's for oily hair). DO NOT CONDITION IN THE SHOWER! Get Aussie leave in conditioner + tip protector (one product). Apply it to your hair after you towel dry. Rub a small amount in your hands and avoid putting any near your roots.

I have very oily hair too and the only thing that helps me is to wash it every day.
On the positive side, my hair is very healthy from all that natural oil.
My face is super oily too so I wash it twice a day. I am almost 40 and everyone thinks I am about 25 because my face still looks very young (no wrinkles) from all the oil.
