I was dating a guy for one year. I ended the relationship recently.

He had a problem with being honest, with himself (especially) and towards me. He would talk about the person he wanted to be but never made an attempt to change. He found refuge in other people's problems. He would dwell on things, for example... He would obsess for days about his sisters' private affairs. He would spend hours talking about other peoples problems but never his own. He hasn't worked for a year and lives with his best mates parents (he's 31 years old and has lived with them for two years). He prefered to spend time with his friends' child (6 years old) than be with me. He was detached whilst making love - he wanted to get it over and done with. He never understand when he hurt me, therefore he couldn't respond compassionately. He was basically empty. I want to support him as a friend. How do you tell someone (that you care for) that you think they may have mental health problems?

You need to explain to him about your concern for him in the exact same way that you have explained it here.

Although it may be difficult for him to hear, this is what good friends do. I believe that your description of what didn't quite feel right is detailed enough, that if he is a friend and he trusts you, he will listen.

The rest, unfortunately, is up to him.

commencing a clean relationship on a lie is in no way an excellent thought. on the very outset, be open and common. Any good guy might enjoy that and, whether it impacts your probabilities of having an entire relationship, you ought to a minimum of have the skill to stay buddies. clarify what the indicators are and how maximum suitable to handle you while you're down. If he would not comprehend then he might desire to start to work out you as a moody woman and walk away besides. maximum suitable of success

Why is it your job to save him? Run Sarah, Run! Seriously though even if you told him in the best, most tactful, compassionate way you can come up with what difference will it make? He is not as emotionally connected with you as you are to him. You said so yourself, the man wasn't even there in the relationship so let it go!

Well its kind of hard for him to really understand how u feel.U can tell him,but he might just blow it out the window with other things.Sound to me like he's depress and has a anger problem as well. You either have to deal with what he's going through and make your life a living hell.Or leave him,u will have the memory of the things you guys shared together. That's really up to u.I just hope u make the right choice.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH HIM? ARE YOU THINKING THAT BEING AROUND AND SUPPORTING HIM MIGHT MAKE HIM WANT TO GO BACK WITH YOU?
MAYBE HE LIKES CHILDREN, AND HE IS NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THIS PERSON. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN, HE WILL NEVER BE INTERESTED AGAIN, BUT COULD JUST USE YOU AGAIN BECAUSE YOU ARE AROUND.
