compassion for those who have different beliefs other than your own? Personally i don't think that there are any right or wrong answers. It seems to me that all proof is based upon something else (and so on back and back until there is no ground left to stand on - or prove anything from). It also seems that faith (meaning faith in a diety) comes from an idealistic view of how life should be lived (meaning; the ideal human condition). What difference does it make if someone believes something different than you do? Is there a way for all beliefs and ideas to co-exist in harmony?

well....if someone adheres to a religion that claims to have the "one and only truth" then no...by definition they would be exclusive, not inclusive.
There are many such religions, and until such thinking goes away, there's little hope for unity.

it does make a difference.....
an eternal difference.
your questions insinuate that believing in God (there is only one true God) is only an earthly
endeavor and has no eternal consequences.
there is a fierce war going on between the forces of Satan and the forces of God over souls.
either you are on God's side or Satan's side; there is no middle ground. so, people can choose to believe what they will but you can't expect God's people, who know the truth, to applaude them in their wrong choices. being compassionate to a lost soul is a great injustice. telling them God's truth in the matter is the only right course of action.
John 3: The Words of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh)
3. "Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
4. Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
5. Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."
6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
16. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
