Corn chowder is a pretty rich soup so I would drink something a little acidic to balance that richness. A sauvignon blanc, sancerre or a pinot grigio would all be good. A viognier is a slightly more fruity, less acidic choice if you like that kind of wine more.

Personally I would opt for a little carbonation, and something to highlight the sweetness of the corn. I think a hard apple or pear cider would be better than wine. If you insist on wine I would go with a dry sparkling desert wine.

THEY say ( who the hell are "they" ) that you match the color of the food to the wine.

Light colored foods = light colored wines.

I say drink what YOU like and forget what OTHERS want you to believe. You know what YOU like so enjoy it !!
