I have been abnormally cold the past 3-4 months. I have to sleep with shorts, shirt, and socks on at night. I've checked my temperature, and it usually ranges from 95 to 97.5. I also seem to be consipated (average about 1-2 bowel movements a week). Finally, I have been getting sick easier recently as well (still recovering from swollen lymph node in my neck. Do all of these symptoms seem to point to something wrong with my thyroid? I know about 5 years ago or so I took a blood test for my thyroid, but it came back normal.

Yes, those symptoms sound like you have an underactive thyroid. Unfortunately the test they use to diagnose thyroid is a lousy test because TSH fluctuates throughout the day. If you have an afternoon test, it could stop a diagnosis. You say its been 5 years.....a lot can happen in 5 years. My TSH went from normal range to out of range in just 10 months. I suggest you have morning only testing again of TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and an antibody test.

Here are some thyroid symptoms; weight gain, difficulty losing weight, low body temp, slow heart rate, low bp, headache, dry skin, dry thinning hair, sensitivity to cold, sensitivity to light, fatigue, depression, ridged fingernails with no moons, IBS with constipation, fertility problems, deepened voice, goiter, and muscle and joint aches.

Below are some thyroid links. Read up on it before you see a doctor. That way you'll know what questions to ask.

it would desire to purely be your general physique temperature and not something extra. My step-mom has a classic physique temp of roughly ninety 4, so while she registers a physique temp of ninety 8.6, that's a fever. do no longer forget approximately, ninety 8.6 is termed an "hassle-loose temperature" no longer THE temperature. I doubt that that's something to be bothered approximately, yet once you rather are worried, you will possibly be able to desire to constantly ask your physician if it is in basic terms your temp or if something is inflicting this to be your temp.
