i dont have lie or anything...but this one girl who i ride the bus with, and she apprently and sadly is in my lab group, and she had gotten lice. and nowww..im freaking out...because i sooooo scared that she may have gave lice to me, so i was going to ask. how long does lice live when it is off the body? because she touched my workbook, like held onto it today, and gave it back to me, and its in my locker right now...and she APPRENTLY had lice for 3 weeks, until today when she discovered she did, and so did everyone else. so alsssoo, is there a god chance i may have it now? (i never really had any physical contact with her or her hair..)

also please no dumn answers.

thanks mucho much!

3days. go to your doctor and get a prescription! Dont use over the counter stuff, it doesnt work. Trust me, from a mother of three
Lice doesnt live off the body for very long. And just because she touched your notebook, then u prob got germs. but thats all. Just make she you dont stand really close to her or share combs or share jackets and dont let your jackets get close. Heat will eventually kill ice. If you do have lice, you have to get rid of all the eggs, after you kill them, which is th hard part

Well, the info you gave me makes me unsure of my research, because you said she had it for 3 weeks, but the TOTAL life span of a louse without any medication is 25 days. With special shampoos or other soaps, its 2 weeks. That was what my friend had to wait when she was younger.

When you get them they seem to last forever and forever and forever. My sisters had them and mom was really frustrated..You have to go through the hair with a fine tooth comb and pick the eggs off the hair! It is awful to have, get treated, and to receive!lol
Go to webmd and type in lice...good luck

lice cannot live in oil, your best bet is to get some babyoil and clean your books locker and tell the kid at school to drown her head in babyoil and wash her hair well.
Hope u folks get better and stay clean, use babyoil or olive oil.
