Several explanations have been proposed for the time indicated by this statement. It may refer to Jesus' glory revealed in the Transfiguration, to the Resurrection and Ascension, to Pentecost, or to the rapid spread of the early church. It probably does not refer to the Second Coming because none of those disciples survive and Christ has not yet returned. furthermore, Jesus denied knowledge of the time of His return.

Till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom; which is not to be understood of his personal coming in his kingdom in the last day, when he will judge quick and dead; for it cannot be thought, that any then present should live to that time, but all tasted of death long before, as they have done; for the story of John's being alive, and to live till then, is fabulous, and grounded on a mistake which John himself has rectified at the close of his Gospel:

Jesus has in mind giving three of his intimate disciples a spectacular foregleam of his glory in Kingdom power. This visionary preview is called the transfiguration. Six days later, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up into a lofty mountain—likely a ridge of Mount Hermon. There, Jesus is “transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun, and his outer garments became brilliant as the light.” (Matt. 17:2) The prophets Moses and Elijah also appear, conversing with Jesus. This awesome event possibly takes place at night, making it especially vivid.

Some people(non -believers) will truly experience death(a metaphor for loss, sorrow) when Jesus*Son of man* comes and they realize they were wrong in not believing in him. They will in a sense die another death, a spiritual death.
But, the bible is open for interpretation. There are never clear cut answers. My advice is to always trust the bible fully and people's opinions on the bible are just that, opinions.

Means that some of the disciples since death was defeated by Jesus will not die but simply change dimension and continue live until the final judgment. Genetically speaking death should not occur to us death its an option we choose .Human was not created to die human chooses to die. in every single explosion of anger we destroy 3 bi lions of cells.

Remember, Jesus later gives John that very gift - that He wouldn't die until the second coming. John must have been in the crowd.

The scripture is explanatory and it simply means that some of us would be alive when Jesus comes in the cloud of glory.
