It's a nickname for a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We actually prefer the nickname LDS to distinguish us from some radical fringe groups that also call themselves Mormon.

For info on our basic beliefs you can go here: http://www.mormon.org/welcome/0,6929,403-1,00.html

Thanks

great question. a mormon is really a nickname for a person who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They are called Mormons, because they use the bible and the book of mormon, another testament of Christ. As you may have noticed, mormons raise a lot of...controversy. if you want to know more, you should probably ask an actual mormon.

An ancient prophet believed to have compiled a sacred history of the Americas, which were translated and published by Joseph Smith as the Book of Mormon in 1830.
Unless you mean a moron.

"Mormon" is the vernacular title for a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a Christian religion with headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. Members of the LDS church believe in the Bible as well as in another book of scripture called the Book of Mormon, from which the title Mormon derives. They believe in such doctrines as modern-day revelation and living prophets, baptism by immersion, and the Godhead as three seperate individuals (as opposed to the Catholic Trinity).

And guys, we Mormons are pretty cool people. Be nice.

A mormon is a slang term for a member of the LDS church. They follow the writings of Joseph Smith and are not a part of the historic Christian church.

Mormonism is a religion, and scholars say that it is poised to become the next major world religion. Ask that question and you're going to hear a lot of people say crazy stuff. The best way to find out is to ASK SOMEONE WHO IS MORMON what they are all about. I wouldn't ask a Muslim what a Catholic is. Check out the website and learn for yourself.
