They don't drill the holes. Needles are made from a bigger piece of stainless steel tubing which is continuously stretched until it becomes the size of the needle required. Then as it runs on a conveyor system, they are cut into specific lengths. Each length continues on down the conveyor as they are each grinded down on an angle to achieve that fine point. Then they are polished, sterilized and individually wrapped and shipped.

The holes in syringes are not drilled. They're machined that way with very specialized equipment. And, insulin/tuberulin syringes are MUCH thinner as are other types of needles. If you're referring to Intramuscular Injection needles, those are a lower gauge than subcutaneous needles.

The needles are made from tubes, that are cut at an angle. The hole is already there.

I would think the metal tubes are pulled while still hot, until the diameter is small enough. It could be a continuous or repetative process.

The steel is molten and then poured into a mould and cooled, no drilling involved.
