i don't know if this helps, but i have also noticed that pugs and bulldogs smell different than most other dogs. What we use at the vet clinic where i work is a product called groom aid. It is just something to spray on your dog to make them smell a little better. There are other products out there that are safe to use, I'm sure you can get them at a pet store. I don't know if this will help, I'm sure it will just cover up the smell for a while. But maybe it will make it more tolerable.

I'm sure you already do this, but make sure she's in a clean environment all the time. Do you wash her bed or the area where she is the most often?
Try brushing her on a daily basis. This will get rid of excess oils and dead hairs that may be causing an odor.
Ears can be a source of odor- especially if there's a problem with them. Clean her ears frequently.

She might need her face cleaned. Pugs, having a flat face, have a wrinkle that needs to be cleaned daily. If it isn't kept clean it can stink very badly. Use a soft cloth, wet it with water and gently clean all around in and between the wrinkle. Then be sure to dry it with another soft dry cloth. There are face wipes that you can buy at www.petedge.com but usually just keeping it clean and dry will work. If it gets too red or looking bad, get some anamax ointment from your vet.

If she smells all over then there is not much you can do.
If she smells just around her face (not her doggy breath) then she may have a yeast or bacterial infection in between her facial wrinkles. For this problem you would have to go to the vet to get an appropriate anti-biotic to make it go away. My best friend has a pug and that was what was happening to him. If she is crusty in between her wrinkles, I would suspect the infection.

Where is the odor coming from it can be from Eye Infection so do her eyes smell? It can be Ear Mites, Do her ears smell? It can be bad breath, does her breath smell? Is she old? If she is cancer inside there hole body starts smelling but how old is she? If its an Eye infection use Terramyacin Ointement You can get from a pet store. if its her ears its probly ear mites you can also run to a pet store and get some ear cleaing solution. If its her breath Get some doggy tooth paste and a doggy tooth brush from a pet store also and brush her teeth! It can also be from her privates which could mean a Yeast infection. If you cant find where the smell is coming from id get to a vets and have a test run on her but If she is young dont bother.

My 9 week puppy started smelling and she had just had a bath. I was told to use vinegar, peroxide and water in equal amounts and put a couple of drops in her ear. I tried it and guess what the smell is gone. For the first three days I did it twice a day and two days once a day and it worked on my puppy. Good luck.
