....and that it’s based on no fact what so ever?

Some actually do (but not most). All of my friends are religious and most of them are Christians. I was talking to them about it and they said that whatever they believe in is just a BELIEF, it can't be proven. But it was kind of ignorant of them to say that and still be delusional. I mean, since you can't prove it (which in all cases means it's not a fact) then why waste your time (and money) praying and going to church?

Edit: WOW, some people here are just too rude! How can someone call YOU a jackass when THEY'RE the ones wasting time on some fairy tale, Jesus is NOT real, god never HAS BEEN real, the Bible never WILL BE real. But you want to know what's real? Christians' ignorance. They're totally blinded by it, so go suck my daddy's left nut you asswipes.

HA

Christianity is not a feel good "religion". It is a relationship with the living Lord. As a Christian I suffer many things, sometimes more than others, because I choose to follow the Lord- Right now I am struggling with something because I feel it may be against the will of God- feeling good is not what Christianity is all about- it is having a deep seated joy in the midst of the struggling. If I practiced my religion to make me feel good, it would fail- sometimes I do not feel good, but I have the Lord who is ALWAYS good.

HAHA that's a good one, here's a better one. Will you ever admit you just posted this question to insult every Christian who read? Oh you wont? uh huh, you'll even fight it? Really...wow, I would have said the exact same thing to your question! I will never admit my religion is a "feel good" thing, because if I wanted to feel good, I wouldnt be here taking such crap from you, I would be one of you....what part of that do you think makes me feel good? If this were a feel good religion, why the heck would I take the insults, the spats, the fury, the cussing, the literal abusement. That I do take, if I wanted to feel good? WHY?!?! Oh wait, I WOULDNT! this isn't something I do to make me feel safe, to make me think I am smarter than you. This is something I do because I am desprately in love, desprately obessed, desprately overwhelmed...with GOD. I don't do this because I think I will now get to heaven, I don't do this because I was brought up in it. I do this because I have chosen this, and I need this as much as I need air to breath. This isn't a game, a feel good joke, this is my choice, and my life, on the line, against people like you.

I have never hurt you, why don't you just let it go?

God bless
Kat

That is complete BS. Find something else to ask about ,speak for yourself , do you even have a religion? I would never say something like that about any religion because I understand that's the way they grew up thinking and I respect that. So get a life and stop assuming nonsense , when you die you will find out soon enough that there is a god and you know where you will be going so peace out! and find something better to do with your time keep your opinians to yourself.

Where are you getting your facts?
There is historical evidence other than the Bible that speaks of Jesus Christ. Read the writings of the first century historian Josephus for a start.

Then check out the books by Ravi Zacharias.

Are you actually expressing opinion in place of fact?

i think i prayed for a girl freind and/or wife at the age of 13, nope never got one. oh wait, maybe those dreams i had count. uh, nope.
my life sucked by the time i was 15 and at the age of 16 i wanted to go to heaven and when someone suggested to me the doctrine of the rapture, i was completely intrigued. So feeling good about life and wanting a better life was part of becoming born again, but reading the scriptures for the first time wasnt about feeling good it was for me about believing in God and doing what is right.
but later on i found out that it is written that It was written that men of apostolic levels of faith WERE of ALL MEN MOST MISERABLE, so i ask you what kept them going to religion?

Its true. Im a christian and I admit it. All religion is just mankinds attempt to grasp the ungraspable and make them feel safer about life beyond death. Now, I beleive my religion is the true one, but this is still true for it.

Religion - a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe

Faith - belief that is not based on proof

So religion requires no facts. I'm agnostic, but I'm just saying that in order to follow a religion all you need is a belief, and it need not be based on proof. Facts are immaterial to the essence of religion.

I don't say that to discredit religion, but just to show that when believers argue their belief in God/religion, they correctly state that faith is all you need.

Probably not - Thats a very good question.

I think they practise their religion because it lets them off the hook for accepting responsibility for actions and decisions they make - both good & bad.

i do not practice my religion,, i live it, to me there is a big difference.. there are people who practice it,,, that is their choice.. i believe the god i worship is in my heart and soul every day, every second, not in a multi million dollar building.. i am a baptist , and yes i do go to church,, but when a church resorts to selling their books, video, mircale water, blessed peices of cloth, and to buying up huge blocks of property, these so called preachers are nothing but slick talking snake oil salsemen. nothing else , who prey upon human misery, just to fatten their bank accounts,, shame on them..
yes there are a lot of people not just so christian that are not going to admit that they practice their religion just to make them ffill good... these are sunday morning quater backs.. and there is no where in my bible that says i have to confess my sins to a preist and have him to deliver it to god. your faith is between you and god ,,,nothing more , or nothing less..
