My fiance and I are writing up the program to our ceremony. I know in the wedding invitation, traditionally, the female's name goes first. But when you just name the couple, like in the ceremony program, or naming other couples (like the bridal party or even naming husbands and wives in the program) whose name goes first? Is it "Eric & Sue" or "Sue & Eric" or "Sue & Eric Anderson" or "Eric & Sue Anderson"?? My fiance and I are confused about what is traditional???

Well remember ladies are always first. And then men are next.

I believe that it is the male listed first. Traditionally the men are the head of the household and would receive any correspondance addressed to the family. This is also the way that people are formally introduced...ie. Allow me to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Eric Anderson. So the traditional Mr. and Mrs. Anderson would then dictate that you list them as Eric and Sue. Or Eric and Sue Anderson. This would be a fix all for sticky situations like re-marriage and dating couples as well. Just make sure you do everything uniformly and usually no one will notice.

On pre-wedding correspondence, like invitations, programs etc. the bride's name goes first. After you become his wife and this is the case for your guests and their invitations, the man's name goes first.

He is the head of your household, his goes first.

For the same reason you will also always be known as Mr and Mrs John Smith, Mrs John Smith etc.
