What does the aura that precedes some migraine headaches look like? Please describe.?

Also, when do you get mirgraines? Does it coinside with any physical or mental events? Do you ever have a mirgraine with muscle weakness and shortness of breath?

hi I can totally relate to this question i have what you call "classic" migraine symptoms i have before the pain really comes is blurred vision often triggered by chocolate or cheese in my case. I tend to panic which is bad, it gets worst stay away from the light, dark and air conditioned rooms are best. Auras like faces look distorted, and i get nauseated and throw up when it gets bad, shorten of breath and cramps like pins and needles. The doctor said its better to put out and rest no t.v coz your eyes have to adjust. I take these pills called sibelium every night with or without headache its suppose to open up the blood vessels in the brain, as you know clogged vessels causes migraines. I suggest you visit a doctor if its really bad. The pills have helped me tremendously although i had to give up chocolate which is sad yet not worth going through the pain :)

Auras can be different for each person, but I usually feel dizzy and see flashes of light (even with my eyes closed).

Sometimes things in the environment can set one off-like really strong perfume or the smell of fresh paint.

I don't know about the weakness and shortness of breath-you should probably go see a dr about that since those could be symptoms of something more serious than a migraine.

A halo of light around objects. Sometimes it is a smell (likes roses). You should have a check up with your symptoms - it could be tension and stress, but you will want to be sure.
