Being a movie and being real life is two different things. I have been hearing about all the critism on this movie. It's ridiculous. There are other movies out there that have rape in it. Even one where a child was younger than her (I believe). Now, obviously if she was raped in real life, that would be horrible. But acting is acting. If this is wrong, get rid of all the other movies that have murder, and other rapings etc. Raping a child or an adult is wrong. What does her age have to do with anything?
Now obviously everyone has an opinion. I just feel that if you think it's wrong, don't take yourself to the movie theater to see it. No one is forcing you to watch that. I know if I didn't really like the storyline of a movie, I wouldn't go see it. I definitely wouldn't down someone else for making it. And down their parents. It's just a movie. For it to happen in real life is 10 times more horrible than acting it out.

Dakota compared to other child actors/actresses seems to have a much better head on her shoulders. Remember Drew Barrymore addicted to drugs at the age of 10, before she got her life back together. I have always thought Hollywood is no place to raise a child, but Dakota Fanning is proving me wrong. I give tons of credit to her parents for "keeping her down to earth" She always seems very happy in the interviews I have watched. I never get the seance she is doing this to please her mom. I also have never even seen any of her parents, I don't know what they look like. That says lots to me on how much they like the limelight. I only hope they keep up the good work, and not let Hollywood corrupt her.

Have you even considered that Dakota wants to be in this movie? Don't you think she has been counseled already about this? Don't you think the film is being shot in a controlled environment so if things do get too out of hand for her she can stop it? I do.
It's one thing to be raped in real life and another in fiction. I believe she's been acting long enough that she realizes the difference. If she wasn't prepared to take on the role she probably would have said something. I don't think it's "fair" but she has grown up like in this adult world and I believe she's capable of making these decisions with the good judgment of her parents.

I think that that is her daughter and if she is okay with it then it is not America's business only a mother knows her child and if she feels like her child is mature enough to play that role than so be it. I am sure that her mother only has her daughter's best interest at heart. I mean people rape little children everyday it is a part of reality and everyday life. Dakota mama do ya thang girl!!!

However bad that may sound it is a movie and she is 12 she most likely had a hand in the decision to do the movie. If it never happened to her then it wont be bringing up any emotional issues. It can also be a learning experience for her for the movie she probably learned all kinds of ways to defend herself and how to prevent something like that to really happen to her. Besides she is an actress it is her job to be versatile.

I have discussed this issue with my husband and my sister. Dakota says she is fine with it. There is no nudity and she was not even told exactly what was happening. She just put her hand down on the floor and cried, "no!"
How is that damaging? Its nothing compared to what Linda Blair had to do for "The Exorcist". I think that unfortunately rape is a part of life for many and they deserve to have their story told. And if that can be done tastefully, then its a good thing.

I have no problem with it.
The truth of the matter is that Dakota was not in a situation where she actually had to act out the rape. They filmed her face and her hands, and that's all.
There was no man on top of her.
She was not naked.
There was no violence.
She was acting...that's what she does.
Now...to the subject of Dakota Fanning's mother being a stage-mom...THAT I have trouble with. It appears that she's throwing all of her children into the acting ring, and that bugs me. Are we entirely certain that these kids WANT to be actors? Or are they there because their MOM wants them to be actors?

Wait... what movie is this? I thought I'd seen all her movies! Personally, so long as it was done correctly, I think Dakota is old enough to "act" this in a movie. How old is she now? 13ish? There are girls out there with children that are her age.

i dint see nothing wrong with it because she now see how it feel to get raped without actually being rape and to see some people will never believe u and how some can invade your privacy and take advantage of you plus if ever happen to her she would maybe tell her mom as soon as it happens

I was in seventh grade when I was 12 and think junior highers can cope with a fake rape scene. If she is ok with it then who am I to judge.
