If you were asked, particularly if you are christians, would you write to an inmate who gets no mail and has the desire to change for the better? Would you regularly write regardless of why the person is in prison?

Someone asked what being a christian has to do with this. Well, a christian is asked to love everyone. I can't ask that of someone who isn't a christian.
Would you write if your last name and address was not revealed to the inmate?

Well, I'm not a christian, but YES, I would write... why not!

It comes to times where we all need to feel that we are cared for, even if it was just for the fun of it.

Peace.

as a former correctional officer i would caution you NOT to write!! use your generousity and time with a child in the third world or visit an elderly person, read to children....something where the people really will take what you are doing for them and cherrish it....i strongly caution you against writing to inmates....have seen some awful things happen to "pen-pals" especially if the inmate gets out.........share your time with a much better cause....i am sorry if this sounds like it goes against your christian beliefs, but i am speaking to you from reality and lots of experience working as a correstional officer with both minimum, medium and maximum security inmates.
