First, YES, get them neutered. Two unneutered males, especially young ones, WILL fight for the alpha position, brothers or not. Second, you have not said if their fighting leads to bloodshed or if it is a bunch of snarling, snapping, and showing of teeth. If it IS leading to blood shed, they need to be separated when you are not around, until they are fixed. IF it is the latter, with just a lot of snarling, snapping, growling and yelling but no bloodshed, they will be alright. I have been through the process of introducing new dogs to each other in my home, and this is actually normal. With some dogs, it is worse, but in the cases I am talking about, the dogs put on a big show, lots of sneering, snarling, screaming and it sounds like they are killing each other, but there is never any bloodshed. And eventually the DOGS figure out who the alpha is. YOU cannot decide this for them. YOU cannot MAKE one dog "accept" the other as Alpha. You just let them work it out. As stated before, unneutered males are far more likely to lead it too far, to bloodshed, but even female dogs will fight like this until one has asserted their dominance. As long as they are not actually hurting each other, separating them actually harms the process by slowing them down in their working things out. It really IS fascinating watching the dynamics of how they work it out; but in your case, with two unneutered males, I think you have a case where they may actually BE dangerous to each other till neutered. Good luck. Once they are neutered I bet they will work it out quickly and you will have peace in your home.......

Since they are both un-neutered males, they will be more prone to "attacking' each other. The one that is doing the attacking is showing that he IS the dominant dog of the two and any female that happens to come around IS his.

I would 100% suggest getting both of them neutered. This should help with the aggresion level in both dogs when they are around other males. It is also safer for the dogs as many types of cancer simply can't form (more so true in females but it still applies.) Also, it is safer for your dogs because right now, if a female is in heat within a certain distance, (a mile leaps to mind.....but i'm not fully sure what it is) your males can smell her and will do almost ANYTHING to get to her simply because of instinct.

I believe neutering is your best bet.

They are normal male dogs and are sorting out their pecking order ,they both want to be no 1 dog ,eventually they will be,no 1 dog no 2 dog.In the meantime you have to show them who is the boss ,be firm ,you are the leader of the pack.take them to a dog training class ,this should iron out quite a lot of problems. It is all about male dominance ,when they start fighting try separating them for 1/2 an hour till they calm down.then Re-introduce them and try the treat-training system.Labs love food,so this should work.Have a chat with the vet they are used to handling this kind of situation .You could also try working with a dog whisperer. They are lovely boys don't give up .Ask a friend to help you exercise them they could walk for miles labs are working dogs .

Definitely get them both neutered. Also, talk with a dog trainer. You may want to enroll them in an obedience class. There's no reason you should have to give either of them up although you will need to put forth effort to make them get along.

neutering may help, but they are fighting for pack placement. It would seem that they both want to be alpha. here's the deal. You are alpha.

The best way to handle this is to have a trainer come to the house and help you work with them. This is fixable, but you have to do it right, and you're not going to get the right help from a message board.

Good luck.

Hi. I think getting them fixed will make a huge difference. I have five dogs and I find they get mad at eachother over my attention. If it happens usually when you are paying attention to them, try greeting the over aggressive one first and then the other one. also try to give equal attention, praise included. see how that does.

Neutering will help, also look into puppy classes. Try the humane society, your veterinary hospital can also head you in the right direction.
