Oh, and by the way, the holocaust actually happened. My dad fought in WWII and saw concentration camp survivors.

Man, two blows two your cherished hateful little myths in one day.

Perchance the root of Jew is Judah. Anyway, I always thought the root of Jewel was the Latin word 'gaudium' joy, or 'jocus', play. I presume you are referrng to the word "Jewry" the part of a town inhabited by Jews. This sounds very close to the pural Jewelry, which is represented by its singular -- Jewel.

Yes, it's a coincidence. You're looking at a false cognate, a word that looks like a word in another language or something that seems to have the same root.

Like in Spanish, embarazada looks like "embarrassed" but it really means "pregnant." Don't assume that every word that looks/sounds alike is actually related.

Oh, and JIBBA-JABBA, "Chris" is short for "Christopher", which is Greek for "Christ-bearer." Chris isn't the root. And stupid+ly=an adverb form of the adjective "stupid." Carefully, carefully, carefully, LY!!! Don't you remember that from Sesame Street?

No

Jewelery comes from the fact Jewish people did most of that work. To this day most of the diamond merchants and graders are Jewish. Also don't forget where Goldsmith, a last name and Silverman came from.

See, if you worked with metals and fires they called you Smith. If you fashioned gold from it they called you Goldsmith. If you were a dock or warehouse worker they called you Porter and if you made people sick to their stomachs they called you Thatcher.
