right?
The reason people become terrorists is because they are oppressed in their life. They feel hopeless and feel that only freedom is to die and go to heaven.
So threatening to kill them would only encourage them more to bomb and kill right? Since they think they're gonna go to heaven afterwards.

jane...the terrorists who feel they have responsiblity to convert the world must have VERY low self esteem to be narrow minded, narcissistic and pretentious and enough to think everyone should think the way they do.

leafy..THAT's my point. they think they will go to heaven if they carry out suicide bombing. although i dont know if that passage in the koran is true.

you've got it all wrong.
they become suicide bombers and what have you because it says in the Koran, to "slay the unbelievers where you find them." their holy book says for them not to make friends of Jews and Christians, because we're infidels. they're ordered to make our lives miserable.
of course, there are some passages that say we should be allowed to live among them, but in that case, we have to pay a special tax.
this is why it's said that Islam is spread by the sword- there are people who take these passages literally. they think that by killing us infidels, they're doing "allah's" will, and will be rewarded for it. it has zero to do with threatening them death or anything. they pretty much don't care what we say. we're lower than human to them.

No, Remember they were not threatened before and they flew into our buildings to kill "us" taking themselves along for the ride. Leaving them alone at this point only invites more attacks if you show weakness. Forget the policy failures of the past, they want to kill us "now". So we have to be strong "now". If you leave them alone they won't decide all of sudden to play nice..it is way too late for that. You cannot negotiate with terrorists, they are not a government you can bargain with.

No, terrorists aren't always oppressed in their lives. They usually believe that they have a responsibility to either convert the world to their religion or to kill those who won't convert.
You're right...when people have nothing to lose, when they are willing to accept any consequence for their actions, even death, there is nothing anyone can do to keep them from acting.

It is one thing to say you're willing to die and quite another to look death in the face and go through with it. I've noticed none of the terrorist leadership is willing to strap on a bomb and blow up a mall. They use young and impressionable people to do the dirty work while they hang out in caves and make propaganda videos.

You can threaten them with death, only after you cover them in pig blood.

You are probably right. The alternative is to bring them to trial, process them through the justice system and jail them if they are found guilty. No one likes imprisonment.
