Yes, your original certificate of naturalization or certificate of citizenship is proo of citizenship. Social Security Card is useless for proof of citizenship - even noncitizens and visa holders can get this.
If you have citizenship, the best thing to do is get a U.S. passport.

Birth certificate would work. If you are a naturalized citizen, your paperwork for that would work. Or a passport would work. I think these are great ideas. And I don';t think it's because the Republicans want to make more people that vote Democratic not vote. As the article says, there is no big issue with voter fraud in some of the states doing this, but I see that as a good reason to implement it: Keep the system working the way it should, and try to stop the fraud before it occurs.

You cannot make copies of your naturalized papers (read the fine print on the back of the papers that says that,its against the law with I believe a 10,000 fine if you do).So the best way would be with a SS#.

I would think so . Not a copy, as in from a copy machine though . You would need an original document or replacement document .
