Back in the beginning of January I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured in me and I went to the gyno yesterday and was checked out for it. So I had like 3 days of menstrual cramps starting on Tuesday night and they were really bad on yesterday(Wednesday) and they finally sort of ended at like 2:00 today. They were painful cramps. Is it possible for your muscles to kind of hurt down there or feel some pressure? I was wondering cuz like my last period wasnt that heavy and this one is kind of heavy and with the ruptured cyst and all i was just wondering if this could happen

I have really bad cramping with my PMS. When it gets really bad, I will often have sore muscles for a day or two afterwards (kind of like if I had done lots of abdominal exercises).

The ruptured cyst can definitely play havoc with your cycles and PMS symptoms-hopefully it will get better soon.

If you think about the musculature you're dealing with you can understand why they're sore. Yes, menstrual cramps can leave you with sore, tired muscle. Your uterus is a small, compact, very dense organ made of smooth muscle tissue which is never under voluntary control (unlike your skeletal muscles which are primarily under your control - if you get tired of lifting weights, you stop) and so when stimulated for whatever reason, no matter how much you want it to stop, it won't and so they get tired.

Also, a ruptured cyst is no picnic - I sometimes feel ovulation pain (well, discomfort actually, not pain) and considering how little that is compared with a cyst - holy cow I'm sure it hurts for that alone. And, remember how many nerves there are down there - packed with them!

Heat works great in relieving that soreness and pain. You can get those heat patches that stick on you or a heating pad works great - as well as a damp towel that you microwave for like 15-20 seconds.
