Id plan on washing clothes every 4-5 days. Don't take much. Good shoes, lots of socks and great lingerie if you have a nice man with you. Plan for rain. Relax on the packing. It will be about 8 hours from your place. Its easy.

I go to Europe every summer and just recently came across Cosmo Tours. Its basically a 2 week tour through Europe, and you only pay for your own airfare, food, drinks, soveigners, etc. My co-worker went on a tour last year and only spent $2,100 including the tour price. I usually take $4-5,000 with me on 2-3 week vacations. I stayed at bed and breakfast type places and they werent too expensive. Never stay in big cities because the prices there are outrageous, try to find a hotel that is the next town over and you will get better deals. Same goes for grocery shopping and restaurants.

Besides clothes and essentials such as toothpaste, postcards (well, buy some there), money, snacks, camera, a bathing suit ( just in case), and are you going to a hotel or to a relative/friend's home? And what do you mean by "bring with you"; extras or the obvious? Well, anyway, also a cell phone, passport, airplane ticket, and I heard cotton clothes work out best for traveling long distances. And lots of info and research and travel plans and travel brochures and all sorts of traving guides.

We always tell people to pack light.... if you forget something, you'll be able to get it there. Here is our basic packing list with the" amenities and necessities" we generally take: http://www.mousetourstravels.com/basic-packing-list.html Don't forget that you need to pack with today's security alerts in mind: http://www.mousetourstravels.com/travel-security-alert-packing-guide.html
I'm guessing you have to connect somewhere for the flight to Amsterdam.... it's probably about 7 hours from New York or Atlanta or some East Coast City, and a couple of hour flight to get to the connecting city.
Happy travels... even if you don't travel the world... just remember that life is a journey... embrace and enjoy it! http://www.mousetourstravels.com

Well i know of one thing......You should buy a plug adaptor so if you want to plug in your hair dryer or anything you bring from home it will fit in a European socket.
