Around 2 days ago i had gotten some weird mouth pain and figured it was something i ate, but it turns out i was getting canker sores all over my mouth! there are about 5 of them in little groups of 10. They are very small and it is worrying me. I am a constant victim of canker sores but it is usually only one, not a whole bunch. I have 2 of these groups on the bottom left of my gum, 2 groups on the bottom right of my gums, 1 group at the base of my tounge, and a group of 3 on the right bottom side of my tounge. I dont exactly know what to do, but i usually wash my mouth with salt water and i put on this medicine to help numb it and it supposedly makes the healing process better. My other canker sores usually go away in about 4 days and im appraoching the 4th day tomorrow. (Jan. 26) Any advice on waht i should do? take vitamins? (dads advice) see a doctor/dentist? or should i just wait it out, and keep saltwater washing my mouth and using my numbing medicine.

Ouch! I've had them in clusters before too, and feel for you-it's pretty miserable.

Try rinsing with a solution of half Milk of Magnesia and half liquid Benadryl in after you do the salt water rinse.

Taking a multi-vitamin wouldn't hurt-but it won't work miracles either. I think it's more of a preventative thing.

I probably don't need to tell you this, but stay away from any foods that are spicy or acidic-they burn as well as cause more sores for some people.

If they don't go away after 2 weeks (or if you are just really miserable with them), go see a dentist for advice. They can sometimes cauterize and numb the canker sores.

My daughter gets canker sores all the time too, but usually one at a time but they are big and very painful. I could only imagine how much a bunch of them would feel. What I do to help her is take a syringe of warm saltwater and spray it right onto the cankersore. It hurts alot, but we have to get her to keep from spitting the water out for a second or two, and we do this 2-3 times a day, That canker goes away really fast and hurts alot less after we salt it.
We did buy her some cankersore stuff from the drugstore, supposed to foam up and seal the canker sore, all it did was foam a bit and get stuck all over her lips and teeth. I don't recommend wasting your money on that. Salt water is a whole lot cheaper and works very well.
I also took my daughter to the dentist and they also recommeded saltwater.
Hope this helps.

ok first of all get yourself some orajel this stuff contains benzocaine and will numb any pain associated with the ulcer you have now to help the healing process you can't beat swilling your mouth out with warm water and salt, you want about 5 teaspoons in a tall glass and the water should be warm and not hot, take a small mouthful and swish it several times in your mouth and then spit it out and repeat the process until all the water has been used. Don't swallow the saltwater as this can induce vomiting. The orajel will sort out the pain and the saltwater solution will help to kill any bacteria and also reduce inflammation, the ulcer should be gone in about 2 days if you apply the orajel as told on the packet (every 4 hours i believe) and swill your mouth out in the morning and at night

Sometimes they are caused by too much acid from foods. Orange juice and tomatoes are common culprits. Home remedy is tea bags. Soak a tea bag in warm water and apply it to the sore for 15-30 seconds or just make a cup of tea and swish it around in your mouth. You can spit it out or swallow it if you like tea. My school nurse told me this years ago and it has never failed me. I would check out the causes on one of the medical sites for more info on what causes them.

weird as it sound if you have been exposed to someone with strep throat you could have strep in your mouth. I never get it in my throat always in sores in my mouth.

If no strep expos um camphorphenic(msp) on a q-tip works well just dip it and stick it on the sores . When I have several of them I put it on a small cotton balls and let it soak in. It tastes bad it burns and makes you need to spit but it does work

it'll go away but drink a lot of water. i had a whole bunch just like that and to make it shrink i put a bunch of salt over each one with a cotton swab and it does shrink and it mite sting a little but its really useful. remember to rinse your mouth after you eat because after food sticks on it for a while the cankersores will get bigger :]
