Why do so many non Christians beat up on Christians in YA?

I'm not a Christian, I guess if I had to classify myself as anything I would be Agnostic, but I can't help but to feel some sympathy for Christians on this board.
Every other question asks about extreme fundamentalism (Noah's Ark, 6000 year earth, 6 day creationism) as if that is what the everyday Christian believes. Most Christians read stuff like that symbolically, and know that there are parts of the Bible that aren't meant to be literally interpreted.
I don't see too many threads that start with the premise of bashing any other religion or stance such as Atheism/Agnosticism with the exception of Islam.

It just goes to show you that being an athiest doesn't make people any happier. Nor does it keep them from shoving their ideas on people and preaching to people who don't want to hear it.

Most of their arguments, like you said, deal with Creationism (even though many Christians believe in Evolution or Intelligent design). They also like to mention the Crusades and the Inquisition, ignoring the fact the athiestic Communists murdered 100 million people worldwide in the 20th century.

I know what you mean. The athiests here seem filled with hate!

It's scary! Quite frankly, there is no way I would ever vote for an athiest if the level of hate on Yahoo Answers is any indication of what athiests really think about Christians. They'd be marching us off to the gas chambers if they could!

I'm afraid eventually these people are going to get organized into something like the KKK and launching hate crimes against Christians.

Christians don't fight back lest they be called bigots and it makes them an easy target for very frustrated individuals.
If you have never been unjustly accused of being a bigot you do not know the chilling affects it has on your reactions to snipes from the protected classes of people or from other Christians who are trying to prove something. Usually only a true bigot keeps going. We are very contented people and wish others could be just as happy with their culture and religion.

I think many non-Christians have some deep seated anger and frustration over the way they've been treated by Christians in real life. YA is a nice safe, anonymous way to work some of that out.

There are also people who just plain enjoy poking at other people to see if they can get a reaction. Posing offensive questions about religion, sexuality, race, etc. is a good way to get reactions.

Because some of them represent us in a very bad light. Christianity is such a broad sweeping term. It's like expecting all "men" or all "women" to be the same. Just because they hold that title doesn't mean that some of them wont test positive for Koo-Koo.

Why do you anticipate there's a hollow in my existence? i will turn around and say "what's it approximately your character that makes you want a e book or a God to be a solid individual... why can not you purely do it on your guy or woman?" this is not a dazzling question for me to ask - yet then neither is yours. and how extraordinarily uncharitable and grotesque so which you may think of that the reality i do no longer think on your God ability I connect your devil. i think of you have neglected a number of the standards of Christ's teachings, my pal. i could no longer believe ol' JC became God's son, yet he did have some solid recommendations. you ought to study his words greater heavily and attempt to take them to heart.

If most of the stories in the bible that involve illogical, obviously mythical stories are not supposed to be taken seriously, than why do they take the story of a guy rising from the dead seriously???

I see christians calling other christians koo-koo becuase they take the bible literally, but from my standpoint looking at the 2 groups of christians 1: Take everything in the bible literally 2: think most of it symbolic

I'd say group 1 is being more logical because how koo koo is it to believe an outrageous story of a guy rising from the dead when the rest of the stories in the book you got it from, you hold as myths or 'symbolic myths'.

Because Christians open their mouths and say something pretty lame, and we have no choice but to shut them up with logical and education.

There is no need to bash Jews or Hindus - they dont come here and tell people they are going to Hell. And, if you dont see the Anti-Atheist questions, you arent looking very hard. Jsut look for something really pious and you will find the insults buried in their rants.
