Sometimes im sleeping.. as im sleeping i cant wake up it seems as if my brain and my body are functuning in two opposite ways.. My eyes are closed but i can see my room sometimes i can even look at my body laying there on my bed.. Other times if im sleeping on my side with an arm under my pillow i can see my hand.. I started getting these dreams at the age of 13 [now im 20] at first it was scary not being able to wake up but now i can control them and wake myself up as soon as i get this numb feeling all over my body... Its been up to the point where i pinch myself somehow or kick the wall to wake up..

This usually happens in the morning but it has happened to me at night..I get this thing like 2-3 times a month, i dont know when ill get these strange dreams i dont think they are dreams because everything i see is in detail at times i can even hear the TV .. whats wrong with me?

There is nothing wrong with you and surprisingly, this is fairly common. It primarily has to do with sleep patterns of the brain. In sleep you have decreased levels of conciousness and decreased levels of motor control. Usually these are suppressed simultaneously... but not always. There can be a "state" where you're almost asleep. Your level of conciousness is severely suppressed but you have some concious thought process and awareness of your surroundings. But your MOTOR function is still completely supressed. These states are usually while falling asleep or waking up. It can induce almost a state of panic as you try multiple things to "wake yourself up." It's not dangerous and as far as I know, there is no treatment other that adequate and proper sleep patterns.

Hope that helped.

I have had it happen before where I can't "wake up" or move my body, but my mind feels fully awake. Almost like my mind is an adult telling my body to get up, but it's being a kid who just keeps ignoring them.

I found that I was not getting enough sleep, and that I wasn't getting enough air when I sleep. I bought a new bed, and got a good air filter for my room. this helped a lot, and it happened with a lot less frequency.

What finally made it go away was a change in my life. I was a retail manager working like 70 hrs a week and it was all of the stress from my job that made it that way. I finally quit and found other employment, and it hasn't happened since. I also am down to a normal amount of work as well.

I'm not saying go quit your job, but I do advise examining your life and seeing what kind of stressors you have, or what trauma may have happened back then that triggered it. It may be something you're still holding on to that is causing it.

There is nothing wrong with you my dear, as you are sleeping you are having an outer body experience while you sleep, pretty neat isn't. It can be scare some times but for the most you can control these dreams. You are the controller of every dream imaginable. I get the same dreams, but this happens to me more frequent than not. They seem like the dream last forever but each dream is approx 2 - 3 mins long. Dreams seem longer than that but their not. As long as you do not die in your dreams you will be able to wake up each and every time. My dear there is nothing wrong with you. When you go to sleep it is just you subconsions playing tricks on you. Next time when you have these dreams try to play around in these dreams and have some fun with them. This will take the scariness out of the dreams you are having. you are still young and have a lot of life in you yet.

you have vivid dreams . we all do sometimes but you seem to be having many more of them .
dont worry about them at all .
if you are finding you are not getting enough sleep then you might try a drink of alcohol before bed time for a few nights .
for a short time you could use sleep pill aids but dont mix them with the alcohol.
for the most part this is not something to be consired about at all
but give the two things i mention a try for a short time.

There is nothing wrong with you. Your mind is conscious and your body is asleep. Try going away from your body and see if can go into the hall or out of the house. Can you walk through walls?

Don't be so afraid. See what sort of gift this is.

http://charleshamel.com/2006/10/17/how-to-have-a-lucid-dream/

You might be having lucid dreams. When you dream, can you control yourself inside the dream? That is lucid dreaming.
You can control yourself inside but you can't always get yourself out.

I've had what happens to you happen to me also. I'm not sure if it is lucid dreaming but I know it's not usual.

I don't think it's anything bad.
