My mom said taht it was ok. My dad doesnt even want me going to the school dance but I wanna and my mom is getting me a new dress. I figured it would be nice to ask my dad permission to go with a guy yo the dance but I should not have done that. He has been telling me since I was 10 that the only guy that could take me out is him but I am almost 14 now and there is a chance I might get asked out. If I do should I go anyways and is it right that my dad acts like this?

Isn't it obvious that your dad loves you very much and doesn't want to see you hurt? Yes it's right the way your dad acts cause he's only protecting his little girl. I can't say I blame him. I'd be more tempted to meet the guy while cleaning my M-16 rifle.
Don't be too hard on your dad, he loves you. Sit with him and talk to him and let him see that you're a young lady. Try for his blessings and then if all else fails, slip out the back door and go to the school dance but do your very best to talk your dad into it.

my dad's the same way... he said that too. You have to get him to realize that your not a 'little girl' anymore....not like I'm not a little girl anymore and yell(that will get you nowhere)... have a conversation with him about it. and say something about how your getting older and you need to be able to start making decisions for yourself. and especially that he can trust you (and you have to actually follow through with that too or he won't trust you and you won't be able to go to a dance or anything anytime soon)

ok... first of all dads r ALWAYZ OVERPROTECTIVE of their daughters my dad doesnt want me 2 date but like he saw me really happy when i was!!!! but like i think u should n show ur dad that u can handle a relationship, n the dance without gettin 2 "sexy" or watvr hes sacred of u doin!!!
