Do it like this!
* 2 tablespoons olive oil
* 2 tablespoons chopped onion
* 1/4 cup green peas
* 1 bay leaf
* 1 1/2 cups dry black jasmine rice
* 3 cups water
* salt to taste
1. In a large saucepan over a medium-low heat, warm the oil. Add onion and saute for 3 to 5 minutes. Mix in green peas, bay leaf, and jasmine rice. Stir to coat the rice.
2. Pour 3 cups water into the saucepan and add the salt. Increase the heat to medium and let the rice come to a quick simmer. Reduce heat to low and let rice simmer lightly and sit uncovered until all of the liquid is absorbed. Cover the rice and remove from heat, let sit approximately 40 minutes.

If your rice turns out ok but not as tasty as in restaurants that would suggest the quality of your rice is not good or it is not the right kind of rice. Try using a good quality Basmati rice, it has a very nice fragrant taste. Wash it, put in a saucepan and just cover in cold water and add salt. Cook gently with a lid on until it is cooked and the water is absorbed by the rice. Remember Basmati is quicker to cook than many other types of rice. You can also do it in the microwave.

well yea you see , you mix black + jasmine+ rice togather and then cook it. Or you cook it first and then mix it. Yea i didn't think you had a rice cooker either, but anyway good luck.
