Wal-Mart and other such stores sell a produce that I've always just heard referred to as gripper. You'll find it in the same aisle with the shelf liner and contact paper. It's a relatively thin, rubber material that you put under whatever it is you don't want to slide around. You can cut it to whatever shape and size you need. They also carry some larger cuts with their area rugs that are designed specifically to go under rugs. Lowe's (& I imagine other hardware stores) also carries the stuff as well as self-adhesive rubber pads that stick to the bottom of your furniture. Those are found in the same place as the felt pads and the sliders for moving furniture around.

Home improvement stores and other places sell circular feet for under the furniture legs. These come in a variety of sizes, depending. They are mostly round, but some are square. They also come in a variety of materials, including plastic, wood, metal, and sometimes even glass (like the old ones).

Choose according to the style of your room, leg size, color, and types of no skid in the selection.

You can buy various sized rubber cups to put on the furniture feet to stop them from sliding. Also, they sell non-skid tape for the bottom of runs to prevent them from sliding. You can find these items in any hardware store.

Most hardware stores carry a variety of pads that you can put on the feet of chairs/tables. Some get nailed in some are self adhesive. The ones you need would be made out of rubber. You should also be able to find rubber pads that go under carpets, they come in a variety of sizes and can be trimed to fit.

Along with temperature you should think about the sound. In a large room with tile sound will more likely echo and be noisier if there is living space below. With radiant heat, the temperature issue won't be as bad because the tile will hold the temperature longer, but take longer to heat.
