Halliburton is not the greatest investment at the moment. Cheny has stocks, the same as any other stockholder, period. He no longer works there, or has any other than, a former emloyee, status.
They are the most suited for the jobs as they have been a contractor for years. Bids take time to run the process, sometimes up to 6 months. We don't have time to bid, then the time to award and have new contactors, come and begin.....
They supply basic needs, food, clothing & shelter, among many other services, for the troops...Without Haliburton, they would be losing the war..They are already entrenched, in the country. Have tons, of equipment, experience and know how.
If I were a Soldier or Marine, I would be very unhappy without the basics. Can't always be the Lowest Bidder.

Cheney is NOT making money from Halliburton. Upon taking the office of the Vice-Presidency, he divested himself of all ties to the company. Halliburton remained obligated to pay Cheney for a specific amount of deferred compensation over a specific period of time (unaffected by any change in the stock price), but, specifically to avoid the appearance of conflict, he has donated all of those monies to charity.

No it is not. When he ran for Vice President he was forced to resign from the board of Haliburton and sell his stock or place them in a trust. That simple.

He had a contract for deffered payments, from when he worked there, before he became VP and before the war. He is making no extra money from the war.

He has stocks from when he was an executive of the company. If you look at the haliburton stock, it's not doing that great.

Because "WE" make up the rules as we go along. It's all because of "National Security". And I don't care what Congress or the Senate think about it. It's MY call....... They can all go stuff themselves!
