because you have established them and they can't get at you like they used to do.Keep them up, those bounderies help you to see who respects you and who doesn't.

If you're talking about boundaries with someone of the opposite sex, it's because they don't want those boundaries. They want the freedom. Sometimes they're hurt. But remember you have to stick to your guns about what you feel the most comfortable with.
If this person is a friend, take the time to explain why you need the boundaries. There's so many scenerios and only you really know what you want -- so talk with the other person. Calmly and tactfully.

They're used to having their own way all the time and having you agree with everything they say and do. When you start voicing your own preferences and saying no to certain things it offends them because they think you agree with everything they say and do.

because they want to continue to play the old game and dont know how to handle life with boundaries...i am 51 years old and have to live a short time with my mother again and i am having to teach her boundaries...and she hates it but ...oh well....someone has to know and enforce limits....good luck....you will get opposition but you will also respect yourself for your persistence

People don't like to be told "no". But if the boundries are important to you, stick to your guns.
