I recently got my first tattoo. The line work is fine, the greens are fine, the gray is fine, but anything that was mixed with white has been completely pushed out of my skin. It's the strangest thing I've ever seen. But after consulting with tattoo artists from the area, most of them said that I had an allergic reaction to the nickel in the ink. So my question is, is there non allergenic/nickel free ink because if I can't get this tattoo fixed in a few weeks, it's going to look awful. If there are any tattoo artists out there that might be able to help I would really appreciate it.

Thank you SO much!

There is no nickel in white tattoo ink. If you're reacting to it, it's not because of nickel.
White tattoo ink is titanium dioxide (the white pigment) in purified water, glycerin, and sometimes a small amount of alcohol as an antiseptic. Of all the colors, white is actually the least likely (though no one can ever say "never") to cause a reaction. However, the particles of pigment tend to be (on a microscopic scale) larger than that of other colors so the skin sometimes responds to them as an irritant due to the particle size, not due to chemical composition. Thus, the white portion sometimes swells a little during healing.

Other possible factors are potential ingredients the artist may have used to dilute/thin the ink to their preferred consistency. However, there's no nickel to be a factor.

So there is no such thing as “hypoallergenic” tattoo ink, you just take the risk that you won’t have an allergic reaction.

Okay, now I found conflicting information. This website says," Red ink is the only color that no current tattoo ink manufacturer has developed to be hypo-allergenic."

So, now I don't know what to think. LOL. Although, the first quote was from a healthcare website, and the second from a tattoo enthusiast website. So, you pick which one you have more faith in.

I can time any color, especially red. I watched the white immediately be pushed out of my skin. Two years ago I had an owl done on my arm we did purple with white, and I had a horrific reaction where that color was put in.
We tested white on a different soot last week, different brand of ink as well, and it immediately swelled and shovedd everything out that had been out in and turned a light yellow so we immediately stopped and cleaned and now I am here looking for a hypoallergenic white myself.

check online. there should be some out there, but i have never heard of a reaction to white. its always red. you may be thinking it all pushed out, but depending on your skin type and color it may just need some more white pounded into it. go back to the artist that did it. always go back once out of fairness to the artist to make it right. if he jerks you around, go somewhere else.
