your oem version is fine.

the only two downside are that

1 if will only do fresh installs, ie cant be used to upgrade from an earlier version of xp

2 u don't get proper support from microsoft- not a big deal though

The OEM version is only supposed to be for sale with a newly built pc. If you buy a pc with XP on it, you don't even get the disc! You did the smart thing and bought the OEM disc, that will save money on the 'full' version and hassle if you need to re-install.
You can use that disc on that PC; but if you need to change your hard drive or motherboard or buy a new pc then MS may say 'its a different pc' and refuse to re-activate it.
You would then have the option of buying another OEM version; or buy the 'full' version (which you can move to another pc if that one breaks).
So you have a legal full working copy of XP for a fraction of the price.

If you've just done a clean install I'd strongly recommend you get Acronis True Image and make an image of the drive; you can then use the image to do a clean install in future and you XP will be activated!

One was a OEM version, the other is a Retail version. OEM versions are for selling with hardware only. Ratail, doesn't matter.
