I would agree that your friends are ignorant, nude women can be art, and just because perhaps some people may derive sexual satisfaction from an image doesn't mean it is porn. Afterall consider the pyromaniac whose urge to start fires is often derived from sexual desire. By your friends rationale a fire in a BBQ would be deemed pornography because someone might be getting off to the fire. If you study abnormal human psychology you will find out that there are people who can and will get-off to just about anything.
However after looking at suicide girls I would say this work does not fall into the category of being a fine-art as it does not fit into our concept of modern or post modern art. A broad generalization of our modern concept of art is that which manifests the ordinary into the extraordinary in such a way that it serves to redefine how we perceive our social, political, environmental constructs neither of which the images on suicide girls was intended or perceived to do. At most it is a commercial art, and to be more specific "retro modern erotic art". Here is the definition of erotic art, as it is defined in relation to pornography http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erotica

All imagery is based on the intent of the creator. Some of the photos on Suicide Girls I believe could fall under porn as it seems its purpose is to arouse. Others, on the other hand, seem to only be celebrating the miraculous form of the human body. Nudity does not porn make. Intent on the creators part, as well as intent on the observers part is what creates porn. Some art has and is turned into porn for a certain person because their intents change it from it's pure form into filth. So really, it is a personal decision. Truely, what does this image make me think of? And what was the artists original intent?

You can masterbate to anything or nothing so that just defies logic. If a man masterbates to shoes on zappos.com does that make it porn? If a nude picture includes imagery that suggests an imbalance of power, humiliation, or a social taboo then it is porn. If it is a nude that simply displays the human form as a thing of power and beauty..then it is art.

When it comes down to it, it's porn. Though tasteful compared to other sites. I will agree that the depiction of the woman are tasteful in a sense and display the girls on there more as an appreciation of the female body. However, just like Playboy.. tasteful and accepted by most as art. It's still porn.
Good luck to your girlfriend.

It's definately art. I know one of the girls and she takes her work serioulsy. Besides the only difference between art and porn is weather or not you're playing with yourself.

Ignorant you say? Think about why those pictures are created - to hang on the wall and lust over. It's porn, not art.

You know, this reminds me of the argument - "If women can wear pants why can't men wear skirts"?
It all depends on the "illusion" the artist is try to create.
I mean, women wear slacks for comfort not because they want to look like men. Men wearing skirts? Well that is a different story...
