That or take him to the store and let him pick out his own big boy underwear. Tell him when he starts going in the potty he can wear those underwear.

I am using training underwear and plastic pants. I just started my son last Friday. He has peed in the potty 3 times so far. I let him sit in his wet underwear for about 30 minutes or so and it doesn't phaze him at all. I don't like the pull ups but my daycare requires them. So he uses them there and when he goes to bed at night time. I have some diapers on hand as a back up but I have them out of his site so he thinks that there is no resort for going back to diapers.

It worked for me.

My son hated wearing them, so it was a great motivator to not need them. It wasn't done as a punishment, but as a "this is what we do" and when you go potty, you won't need them anymore. He didn't want them so he went potty.

For my daughter, I used to put her panties on under a pull-up. That way she felt like she was wearing panties (and would relly feel it when she had an accident) but it was easier to clean up! I never had to use the plastic pants on her (and I wish I had thought of that with my son - I may not have needed the plastic pants either if I had done that first).

No, nothing gives a child a dose of reality like some wet cotton underwear. They really get it when the pee is just running down their legs, my daughter figured out something was wrong when the pee was coming down. I bought like 5 packs of underwear and everytime she messes them I make her change her own underwear and she doesn't get movie time or stickers. You have to motivate them and let them know it is not okay to sh8t on the carpet! I used some broken candy canes and airlines peanuts and potty training was easy! I took that gentle approach for six months and that crap did not work! It only took me a week with the bribes and reality checks!

Does your daughter have a favorite thing she likes a lot ...say stickers. Setup a calendar and use stickers for her to put on the days she goes in the potty. Sometimes incentive is a virture. Or take her special out a the end of the week just herself and Mom to her favourite ice cream place or show or whatever. It is surprising how quickly they will come around to the ideas you give them for going on the potty. Good Luck hope this helps you.

I tried the pull ups and daughter had no intrest switched to regular undies and the plastic ones and a month later was done she didnt like the feel of them at all when wet. I think pull ups doesnt let them know they wet enough even with the new feel cold ones but the other way sure does it makes more laundry at first but it was worth it for me.

It's worth a try ---- that or just put regular underwear on them from now on and be consistent with it. The child will eventually get tired of being wet and go to the potty.
