I'm a Christian and I've been pondering whether masturbation is a sin. Don't bother answering this if you're not one: the typical answer is "It's a natural release, do what feels good to you". This is no way helps me.

So, Christians, or those with a biblical knowledge to answer, is masturbation a sin? Should it be discouraged? The Bible says that lusting after a woman is a sin, but if you do not have that intent, is it still a sin?

i am not Christan but i will tell you this....

god created us... and all our urges.. sometimes these urges can be bad.. and some are good... as far as masturbation goes.. i dont think god would care if you indulged yourself a little... but when it becomes a problem.. or an obsession.. then you are not in control.. and we all need to learn how to control our urges and body....

I believe God wants him to seek his will for practical issues like this. There will be individuals differences. It is clearly not a sin as items listed in the Ten Commandments.

Therefore, it requires some thought, prayer. Lusting after a woman is wrong because it allows one's passion to have rule. This is what destroyed Samson. It caused terrible conquences for David.

The issue has been viewed to one extreme to another: a wicked act to something that just feels good so do it. Neither extreme appears proper. It seems to have a nature of lust that could encourage unnatural practices; not that what is properly prescribed in The Bible. On the otherhand, it could just a be moderate release for some.

I would come to one's own situation. Does it discourage natural relations, or does it help me with be safer with sex? This, I believe, can only answered by the invididual seeking God. Do I deliberately over encourge the activity? Can I do it go the glory of God?

I believe an individuall should ask these questions sincerely, and then moves how he believes God and the Holy Spirit wills for him

It is not an easy queston, but an important one.

Masturbaton is most definitely not a sin, it is a perfectly normal part of life and everyone does it at some point in their lives. There are some people who believe it is a sin, but I am definitely not one of them. I don't care if I'm saying the typical answer because that's what I believe. I don't believe all that rubbish about it being a sin. And you shouldn't either.
