It felt like that to me until I turned 21.

Its a hard age...you're not an adult, but really not a child... I'm 23 and have a pretty independent, responsible life and I still don't feel entirely grown-up at times!
Just because, by law, you can do things, at 18, or 21, doesn't necessarily mean you are an adult.

I felt like an adult before I hit 18...I had already moved out of my parent's house at 17 and had to learn how to survive before I even made it to age 18...

Your nothing until your 25. Then you can rent a car!!
But your not an adult until you earn it. And thats a daily struggle, full of more responsibility then you ever thought imaginable. Be afraid, be very afraid, this is just the begining of the rest of your life.
All you can do is vote (GO REGISTER NOW!! ITS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK), do jury duty, buy cigarettes, and state lotto/lottery. You can't even get into a casino anymore! (Well no where around here, unless it's those lame fake ones). OH! Can't forget porn, you can legally access porn on the internet now. WooHoo! What a happy day! ..........

I felt like a difference-like I was finally free...even though I wasn't. I still got treated like I was a teenager. It was hard to shake that stigma because I worked for the phone company a few months after I turned 18 and everyone in the office I worked at was older than me. So they kind of treated me like a kid (half serious, half kidding) but as they got to know me they looked at me like I was an adult and not just another kid. Took my family awhile to treat me like an equal (adult) but it happened. Your family will look at you like a kid for awhile but they will turn around. Of course it helps to be mature and show lots of responsibilty.

Yeah, it is just an age
it is like when u were only a child and someday, u turned into an adolescent. u were not ready to change so fast. when u turned 18, u don't feel like an mature adult because u r not ready to change into an adult, u used to be an adolscent, sometimes immature, sometime mature and free.

I agree, just don't get all mixed up with older, like grandfather age, men or women. But, I'm 27, and I still don't feel like an adult.

With turning 18, you are going into another stage of your life with more responsibilities and privileges.
Now its upto you what your going to do with your new choices as a adult, even though you may not be feeling it right now. good luck!

Adulthood comes with more than just being 18 years old. 18 is just that, an age.
