Someone is showing signs of PMS right now, sheesh!
I'm not a child. I am seriously wondering. Do not be judgemental.

When a Muslim stands up and begins to pray, he/she is in the presence of God, and must respect the holiness of the event by being as clean as possible. That's why Muslims wash before they pray.

Any part of the body that excretes fluids, or has remnants of excreted fluids like blood or semen, needs to be washed. If you excrete fluids during your prayer (or release wind), your prayer must be immediately terminated because your state has changed to an impure one.

Muslims can supplicate and remember God at anytime. It's only during the act of prayer that they must be absolutely clean and free of any impurities because they stand in the presence of God.

If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. All people need to have is an open mind...

Salam!

Umm I don't think you clarified what you meant by praying, leading to other people to become misinformed. Praying to god in islam the way Christians think of prayer if not forbidden for women at any point, in islam is a different kind of prayer called du'a, it is considered an informal prayer. Sa'lat are the five daily prayers in islam and it is that in which a women isnt to pray while she is on her period. This is simply for the fact that before each Sa'lat a muslim is supposed to preform Wu'du, which is a physical cleansing, and this is nearly impossible and an unreasonable thing to ask any women on her period to do five times a day. Personally I am glad i am excused for the week, cramps dont put u in a prayerful mood anywayz!

A woman not fasting during her period IS practising her faith. God allowed this for woman as a mercy (it does say that in the Qur'an, although I can't remember the verse). If perhaps you knew more about this 'natural biological process' you would understand why. Ladies loose many nutrients and are prone to dehydration at 'that time of the month,' and while in most cases fasting wouldn't be life-threatning, it would be decidedly unhealthy.

I know it sounds harsh. For prayer, one has to be clean from all impurities. These include excrements, genital fluids (from intercourse), and blood to name a few. While a woman has her menses, she is not clean from impurities. She is free from the salaat (obligatory 5 daily prayers), however she can still make duaa (supplication), which are prayers similar to the Christian prayers.

Lol, I find it funny that people complain about Muslim women not praying during her period, when the majority of these people complain that a Muslim has to pray 5 times a day. Lol!

Traditionally, Christianity and Judaism are like that, too. There are a few passages in the Old Testament of the Bible about restrictions against menstruating women. Religions that came out of the middle east seem to have certain hang-ups concerning women and the functions of their bodies.

I'm not sure but, I think Judaism has some rules concerning this. I really am going to have to read about the Jews and their religion. Interesting.

Men back then were afraid of women because women bled every month but didn't die. The way they decided to handle it was to make women outcasts during that time.

That is man's idea, not God's.

I don't know, but that is absolutely WRONG! I cannot imagine any other religion doing something as this. We are supposed to "pray without ceasing" and no prayer for a woman because she is having a period??That is WRONG!

Life is short, pray; HARD!
