The two standards for HDTV are 1080 and 720. For a TV this small go for 720. This year at the Consumer Electronics Show, Panasonic had set up a 1080 HDTV right next to a 720 HDTV for everyone to compair. Both TVs looked fantastic! The only differance was when they showed a picture of a cat you could make out EVERY individual hair on the 1080 but on the 720 it just looked like fur.

If you're going to buy an HDTV, don't get anything too cheap...you'll just regret it later. I definitely suggest going the LCD route when talking about that size (the price has dropped significantly) and would actually recommend going up to at least 37 inches to enjoy all HDTV has to offer. Regarding where to buy one - I would say Costco. Their selection may not be the greatest, but their prices are great, and they have an amazing return policy (basically unlimited and without re-stocking fees).

I would go with an LCD screen. Since it is small, the bad viewing from angles wont be a factor, and it should giving you plenty of watch time. LCD will be the best value for a smaller screen. Plus, it will be rather light -- portable.

I would check all the big box stores. Try to play them off each other, often, they will match a competitor's price and then offer a little more.

For that size you should consider wide screen CRT (tube) type HDTV's. They are heavy due to the weight of the picture tube but since they are not popular they aren't as expensive as the LCD units that are out.

Why do you want a small one, that kinda defeats the point. You should check Tigerdirect.
