Mint is in the same herb family as Catnip.

My son woke up one morning to a crunching noise only to find our cat chowing down on his peppermint stick that he got in his Christmas stocking. From then on, we couldn't eat pepermint without that cat in our face.

it might be because its a smell the cat has never smelt before, and the smell of it could of been stronger for ur cat than u. just because of the fact that cats and dogs sense of smell is much stronger than humans. i also think or cat did that because he was being a normal curious cat :)

My cat loves peppermint essential oils. If I use one, he will try to lick my hands, face, wherever I have it...I've always had cats too and this little guy is the first of mine to be fascinated with peppermint.

Some cats will eat and drink weird things. My cat likes iced tea, onions, and pickels!
