You can try the following to help relieve your symptoms: gentle range of motion exercises (just make sure that you do not do neck rolls backwards - they are pointless and do more harm than good), heat or ice (this is more personal preference - heat can be used as long as you do not see any swelling), muscle rubs like Bengay, anti-inflammatories or analgesics (ibuprofen, Tylenol, Advil, Alleve, etc).

If your pain does not resolve in 1-2 weeks I would suggest following up with your primary care physician and ask for a referral to a Physical Therapist (PT). Another reason for a referral to a PT would be if your pain resolves but then comes back at a later time.

U can use a heating along with a hot shower!!! Also try to massage it!! Try resting your muscles! If this doesn' t work in 2 to 3 weeks go to the doctor!

Use a heating pad and once you do, take a warm shower..also lay down and relax your muscles in your neck.and it wouldn't hurt to massage it to.

It may be a nerve, but do not go for doctor and MRI, go for an X-ray and chiropractor. Results are world apart.
